Forest School Nursery

Welcome to Brockhampton Forest School Nursery

Miss Hardy is our Nursery Pre-school Leader, supported by Early Year’s Assistant Miss Finch. Miss Disley is also an essential part of the Nursery team, leading Forest School activities and providing support.

Pre-school is open from 8.30am-3.15pm every day during term-time.

Pre-school children are also welcome to attend Breakfast Club if parents need to drop-off earlier.

We accept both 2 and 3 year old funding, with sessions running from 8.30 a.m.-11.30 a.m. and 12.15 p.m. – 3.15 p.m.

A lunch club also operates between 11.30 a.m.-12.15 p.m. and parents can book a hot lunch or provide a packed lunch for their child.

Your child’s learning and development within Pre-school will be based on the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework, which guides how and what they will be learning to support their healthy development in our wonderful nurturing setting.

They will be learning skills, acquiring new knowledge and demonstrating their understanding through 7 areas of learning and development.

Children should mostly develop the 3 prime areas first. These are:

· Communication and language;

· Physical development; and

· Personal, social and emotional development.

These prime areas are those most essential for your child’s healthy development and future learning.

As children grow, the prime areas will help them to develop skills in 4 specific areas. These are:

· Literacy;

· Mathematics;

· Understanding the world; and

· Expressive arts and design.

Children learn by playing and exploring, being active, and through creative and critical thinking which takes place both indoors and outside.

Home Learning

Please find below a home learning document for Pre-school, which outlines the areas we had planned to cover over the next few weeks.  You will also find a selection of resources which are referred to in the main document.

Another excellent resource for educational games and activity ideas is:

Each half term the children's learning is focussed around a particular topic.  Please see the attached topic webs for details of the areas we have covered so far this year.
