Year Six

Welcome to Year Six!

Hello and welcome to Year Six.

Our class teacher is Miss Hodgkiss

Your teacher's email address is: rhodgkiss@brockhampton.hereford.sch.uk

.......................................................................................................

This term, our topic is designed to inform us about the inequality many people faced during the Triangular Trade. We will look at how slaves were used and exploited prior to the slave trade and how many counties were involved in this time in history. To understand more about this, we will become familiar Harriet Tubman and understand how she fought for her life and the lives of others in North America. We will then make informed views on the states that disagreed, the people who disagreed and the power of change.

Once we have widened our understanding, we will apply this to design and create a quilt map which will be coded to support and help others.

To accompany our spring topics of Survival, we will also read Wolf Brother by Michelle Paver.

Outdoor learning on Fridays

Each week, we will be taking some of our lessons outside of the classroom to utilise our fantastic outdoor facilities. This will take place on Friday afternoon. Please provide your children with suitable footwear (wellies) and waterproofs to enable us to go out in all weathers.

PE every Wednesday

For the first 5 weeks, we will be developing our skills in cricket. Children will need their kits with additional layers in the colder months, every Wednesday afternoon.
