Welcome to Year 3!
Our class teacher is Miss Hewitt and we are very lucky to have support from Mrs Jones, Mrs Welch and Mrs Stubbs every day.
Miss Hewitt's email address is: email@example.com. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
Our topic for this half term is Groovy Greeks! We will be learning all about the country of Greece. Throughout the topic, we will locate Greece on a map and explore Greek culture and history. We will then have a go at creating a presentation on the Ipads using the information that we have found. In Science, we will be exploring electrical circuits and sound.
English and Maths:
During this half term, we will have a go at writing character descriptions inspired by characters from famous Greek Myths. We will also have a go at writing newspaper reports based on the Trojan War.
In Maths lessons, we will begin the half term by exploring 2D and 3D shapes, before moving onto learning a formal method for multiplication. We will also recap our learning on money, fractions and direction.
Outdoor learning every Monday
Each week, we will be taking some of our topic lessons outside of the classroom to utilise our fantastic outdoor facilities. This will take place every Monday afternoon. Please provide your children with suitable footwear (wellies) and waterproof coats to enable us to go out in all weathers. During these sessions, we will have a go at creating Ancient Greek shields and swords.
PE every Friday
This half term, we will have a go at creating both dance and gymnastic routines. The children need to come to school in their P.E kits every Friday. Please ensure that you send your child in wearing the correct school P.E kit, along with additional layers as the weather is much colder (tracksuit bottoms, jumper).
